The forum has been organized by NYSARC Inc and The Hospice and Palliative Care Association of New York State using funding provided by the NYS Developmental Disabilities Planning Council.
A series of training workshops were organized across New York State bringing together Developmental Disabilities, Hospice and Palliative Care providers and advocates interested in improving end of life and supportive care for persons with developmental disabilities and their families and their staff caregivers.
As a result of these workshops, we have developed this forum. We will begin a series of two-week discussions featuring experts on topics related to end-of-life care for people with developmental disabilities and those who support them.
Each discussion is available for a 2 week period and moderated by a noted expert on the topic. We are in the process of concluding our first round of interactive, expert-moderated forums, and have discussed the following important topics over the past few months:
We have taken a break for the month of July 2008, due to numerous vacations and hectic summer schedules. We will resume in August. The next two forums to be conducted in August and September are listed below, with details to follow on the forum and in our monthly newsletters. Check back often for updated information!
You must be a registered member of the forum to participate in any of the discussions. To register for the forum and complementary subscription to our e-newsletter, please click here.
